Hi, my name is
John Fevre.
DevOps/Cloud Engineer with 10+ years in infrastructure and automation. I specialise in AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD — from serverless AI pipelines to enterprise migrations. Previously SC cleared.
About Me
I'm a DevOps/Cloud Engineer based in Manchester with over 10 years of experience in infrastructure and automation. I specialise in building automated, scalable cloud solutions — turning manual processes into reliable pipelines and helping teams ship with confidence.
I've worked across government, travel, and transport sectors, delivering everything from serverless AI pipelines to large-scale Active Directory migrations. I previously held SC security clearance and enjoy solving problems that sit at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and developer experience.
I studied Business & ICT at Sheffield Hallam University (2:1), and I'm always learning — currently building with AWS Bedrock, Step Functions, and modern IaC practices.

Where I've Worked
DevOps Engineer @Awaze
Sep 2023 – Present
- Migrated IAM users to AWS IAM Identity Centre, centralising SSO and permission sets across multiple accounts, eliminating static access keys, and implementing TEAM for time-limited production privilege escalation.
- Played a pivotal role in delivering the Akamai to CloudFront migration, translating complex multi-environment configurations into reusable Terraform modules.
- Built a serverless AI image analysis pipeline (Lambda, Bedrock, SQS, Step Functions) extracting structured metadata from millions of property listing images.
- Migrated a full engineering team into a dedicated AWS account — RDS Aurora, ECS frontend, private API Gateways — handing over a fully self-sufficient platform.
Cloud Engineer @Stagecoach
Jan 2023 – Sep 2023
- Built an automated backup platform using the Veeam for AWS API, standardising backup appliances across AWS environments to give the business a unified, consistent backup strategy.
- Introduced Bitbucket Pipelines to the DevOps team, to reduce costs of running jenkins boxes bringing as the minutes for the bitbucket pipelines were being paid for but not used.
- Authored a reusable OIDC Terraform module for AWS environment access, removing the need for long-lived IAM credentials and improving the team's overall security posture.
Infrastructure Engineer @Awaze
Sep 2021 – Jan 2023
- Introduced IaC into an operations team where all tasks had previously been performed manually — replacing ad-hoc changes with Terraform for deployments, Git for source control, and GitHub Actions for pipeline-driven promotion through environments.
- Reduced change window durations significantly by scripting out common infrastructure changes in Terraform, cutting risk and toil for the on-call team.
- Designed and deployed a 1Password SCIM bridge on ECS Fargate, automating group provisioning from Active Directory into 1Password and eliminating manual account management overhead.
Infrastructure Consultant @Informed Solutions
Nov 2017 – Sep 2021
- Maintained and developed the Terraform repository underpinning a multi-environment serverless government platform (Lambda, ECS Fargate), including production code reviews, CloudWatch monitoring and alerting, and cross-team technical support.
- Managed and enhanced the Drone.io CI/CD pipeline for the government platform, ensuring reliable promotion of changes across development, staging, and production environments.
- Led the migration of a Windows Server 2003 data centre domain to a security-hardened AWS environment running Windows Server 2016, including over 20,000 Active Directory users, objects, and group policies.
- Redeployed internal company tooling from a legacy Windows Server environment to a Linux-based, high-availability cluster backed by MariaDB/PostgreSQL, improving resilience and reducing licensing costs.
- Managed user account lifecycle to ISO 27001 standards across on-premises Active Directory and Office 365, maintaining audit-ready access controls for both internal staff and client environments.
- Provided 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support across internal and client infrastructure, acting as an escalation point and working directly with development teams on all elements of the service.
Technical Support Agent @One Iota
Aug 2015 – Jan 2017
- Provided 3rd line support for multiple sales channels of some of the largest global retailers, acting as the escalation point for complex technical issues across web, mobile, and in-store platforms.
- Carried out on-site installation and configuration of digital signage and interactive point-of-sale systems across retail environments.
- Performed QA across web applications, mobile apps, interactive signage, and POS systems, ensuring releases met functional and UX standards before going live.
Technical Support & Engineer @WDSI International
Jul 2013 – Jul 2015
- Part of the engineering team responsible for a full stadium WiFi deployment, covering fan connectivity as well as internal systems including POS, ticketing, and digital signage.
- Provided critical on-site support for the installation during a major international sporting event, ensuring network stability under high-traffic conditions.
- Delivered 2nd and 3rd line support to WiFi hotspot networks operated by the UK's largest mobile provider, supporting high-availability consumer-facing infrastructure.
